Around mid-1964 WQAM, in conjunction with the Original Sound Record Company, produced a record album of “South Florida’s Greatest Hits”. Of course, the selections were only hits that Original Sound had the rights to, which for the most part weren’t exactly South Florida’s greatest hits. But the exciting thing to me was that the album contained 4 WQAM jingles!
Most likely many other stations had similar albums. I believe that the other 5 Storz stations, WTIX, KXOK, WDGY, WHB and KOMA had them.. I have a copy of KXOK’s, which had the same songs as WQAM’s give or take a few. |
